About
Janani – Yoga for Positive Connection is inspired by the teachings of Swami Sivananda Saraswati, Swami Satyananda Saraswati, and Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati of the Bihar Yoga Tradition.
It encourages individuals to embrace the principles of Yoga Ecology and adopt a yogic lifestyle as an offering to Mother Earth and her precious ecosystems.
All classes, courses and seminars emphasize mantras, aradhana (devotion), and a daily yogic sadhana and lifestyle aimed at fostering a deeper connection and communion with Mother Nature – Janani.
Through these practices and the lifestyle, we reconnect with our true essence, which embodies Satyam (truth), Shivam (wisdom), and Sundaram (beauty), allowing both the inner and outer worlds to coexist in harmony and peace.
Our offerings include topics such as Yoga Ecology, Yoga Lifestyle, Sanskrit Mantra Chanting and Nada Yoga, Yoga for the Elderly, and Yogic Management of Breast Cancer.

Our Tradition
Bihar Yoga
The science and philosophy of Yoga Ecology is deeply ingrained in the core teachings and tradition of the Bihar Yoga Tradition.
The Bihar Yoga tradition begun in Rishikesh with Swami Sivananda Saraswati in the late 1930’s. Swami Sivananda’s love for Mother Nature inspired his life and teachings. He worshipped the River Ganga daily, every plant, animal and insect were his ashram family. As a doctor, he believed in the healing power of nature, and called this therapy “nature cure”. Many of the yoga practices prevalent today trace their linage back to the teachings of Swami Sivananda
Honoring the mandate of his guru, Swami Sivananda, Swami Satyananda Saraswati established the Bihar School of Yoga in Munger, Bihar, India in 1963. Swami Satyananda taught that Yajna, a Vedic ritual, could be a means for environmental purification and protection. He revered nature as a divine force throughout his life and deeply understood the interconnection of all life and systems on earth.
Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati currently guides the teachings of the Bihar Yoga tradition. He is a yogi from birth and a spiritual beacon who illuminates the ancient wisdom of Yoga and Yoga Ecology and makes it accessible to modern society. He inspires yoga aspirants to not only practise yoga but to embody its teachings moment to moment. This is the essence of Yoga Ecology.
Yoga of the Bihar Yoga tradition is not merely a practice, but a way of life, offering an experience of complete integration of the human personality and nature. The practical techniques and methods of Bihar Yoga bring simplicity, harmony and balance into life.
Smile with the flowers and the green grass. Play with the birds and the deer. Shake hands with the ferns and twigs. Talk to the rainbow, wind, stars and the sun. Converse with the running brooks and the waves of the sea. Develop friendship with all your neighbours, dogs, cats, cows, trees and flowers. Then you will have a wide, perfect and full life.

Yoga will emerge as a mighty culture and change the course of world events
—Swami Satyananda Saraswati
The cosmic universal energy, power or shakti is known as Janani, the mother. Yoga Ecology honours Janani and prakriti and attempts to bring harmony through a series of simple practices such as aradhana, havan and mantra chanting. At the same time, an effort is made to harmonize the individual nature and connect to the natural forces, the natural environment and the people we share life with through genuine sattwic qualities, respect and love for all.
